The Trials of Reconstruction

During the Reconstruction time, there was many chaos within the citizens due to the new passing of laws and because of all the racism that the citizens were implying on the African  Americans. The events that impact he citizens and me more is how much the African  Americans had to go through even when they were suppose to be free from slavery. There was some impacting  laws that passed during this time, for example, since their was lots of racism to the African Americans even after they were suppose to be " free" in the name of the Civil War, they were still suffering from deep racism and even if they were " free" , they were not given a shelter and other living necessities.  The African  Americans had to either go into hard labor and work, or they had to find a way to make money and support their families. That was when the law called Freedman's Bureau, which was a law that granted the African American's a shelter, food and medical attention to the African Americans. The Freedman's Bureau struggled as
Congress refused to increase its funding and expired in 1872. There were also other trials during this reconstruction time that attacked the  rights of the African Americans such as "Colloquy with Colored Ministers "  which was like an interview with Garrison Frazier, and he was saying that when the Africans received their "freedom" they wanted the right to own land and they wanted to treat it with their labor. They wanted to work on their land themselves because they believed that was the right thing to do.  They wanted to take care of themselves and also assist the government. It did not matter what the government had done to them they still wnated to assist them. This interview shows us the African Americans fighting for their rights during the Reconstruction era. But of course the greedy citizens wanted to abolish those rights that the Africans deserved with the trial of, Petition of Committee on Behalf of the Freedman to Andrew Johnson ( 1865).  This went against the previous event of the African Americans wanting to own land. the Africans were able to own land and they did put their own labor and hard work into the land, but it was suddenly destroyed when the southerners decided to take "their " land back. It was unfair to take away the land of the Africans and they felt betrayed and robbed.  The reconstruction Era was suppose to grant more rights for the fellow Africans, but only bought more chaos and depression.
Stop all Racism

Unfortunately, even today colored people have not gained equal status in our communities. Its not only the colored people who suffer but also the undocumented people as well. They have to suffer through all the racism that is still attacking them even today. For example, in the news we see that the news casters portray the colored people and undocumented people as savages that only commit crimes and that we have no morals. They give us stereotypes that aren't true and make us look wrong throughout all the other races. This problem has been going on in the Reconstruction era  and has lived on even in modern times.  Colored people have not gained equal status and still suffer with trying to be accepted and showing the world that everyone is equal, no matter what their skin color is, we are all human.

Glorious Revolution

In this presentation we studied The Glorious Revolution which teaches me that their were many acts developed at the time of The Glorious Revolution. Throughout the presentation they introduced many ideas that led to the Glorious Revolution as well as effects the Glorious Revolution . What I liked about their presentation was that they had a good thesis that only needed little correcting, they were very clear when it came to their argument and that made things easier for us to understand.  I also think that they had very good though out evidence that did support everything that they were saying. All they needed to improve on organizing their evidence so that it makes sense because there was so many acts they could use to support their argument they just need to place it all in the correct order.

Atlantic Slave Trade

The following presentation was about The Atlantic Slave Trade and it was an interesting presentation due to all the good evidence the presenters exhibited.  I concluded that their thesis was good except i thought that maybe they could not be too specific when it came to evidence usage in the thesis statement.  I think that they were being too specific on their thesis when it came to using their buckets. but other than that i thought they had a good presentation with good supporting facts that did prove their argument in their thesis. I learned that The Atlantic Slave Trade had to do with how they transported slaves and forced them into hard labor . but their presentation helped me develop an example of a good thesis .

The Enlightenment

This presentaion was about The Enlightenment, whicha was the time when many philosophers rised to express their philosophy to the people, whether it was for religion, form of goverment,or,natural rights. Throughout the presentaion the members did present good eveidence and knew what they were talking about. But what I felt that they needed to improve on was on their thesis because, I was felt as if they were being too gernal when it came to the problems that they faced. they included in their thesis statment such as, " They faced many social, econmic and political issues." Which what i think is too general and tey needed to add more information as to what were thoes issues that they faced that shaped The Enlightenment. I feel that that was the only thing that left me confused but other than that i think they did a wonderful job on their presentation and it was very interesting.  I liked he part when they had the mini debate on John Locke and Montesque becaus eit gave me a better understanding on the conflicts that the philosophers had when it came to their point of views in certain issues. Which in this case, was the argument of human nature and of the natural rights one should recive.  that really caught my attention and made the presentation more catchy.

The Great Awkening

My presentation was about The Great Awakening. Throughout this presentation and throughout my research, I learned that the Great Awakeing was a movement of religious revival and influenced wars like; The American Revolution and was inspred by The Decloration of independence. It also gave me an oppurtunity to find out more about famous preachers that inspred manuy of the colonist to give their life to Jesus Christ and to confert into christianity they also seeked for reliogious freedom. i felt that i could have done better in my presentation because I got very nervous and we did not include the Chesapeke information that related to the thesis , which consequently messed up my presentation. But I feel that I could have done better and i think i just have to stop being too general in my thesis when it comes to introducing the buckets. I gave out to many inforation when it came to New England and did not focus on Chesapeke, which was what messed up the presentation but other than that I think that the presentaion was okay.

Jaques Marquette and Louis Jolliet

Jacques Marquette and Louis Jolliet were both explores of the lands and both had the same goal, which was to explore until they found a suitable place to set up a trading post. Jacques Marquette was born on June 10, 1637 and was awas a Catholic missionary and explorer. He was born in Loan, France and later became a Jesuit missionary. Louis Jolliet  was a French-Canadian trader and explorer. Jolliet was born in  Québec City and raised in a Jesuit seminary. Unlike Marquette, he decided he didn't want to became a priest and became a trader with the Indians instead.  As mentioned previously, both Marquette and Jolliet were both explorers and so they met in a trading post since jolliet worked as a fur trader. When they met they both undertook a journey to explore the territory in North America from the Great Lakes region to the Gulf of Mexico. During this trip they left with  several men in canoes and thats when they entered the Mississippi River  arrived in present-day Arkansas in June 1673. Which therefore, made them the first  Europeans to come into contact with the Indians. They did many expeditions together but  the importance of the expedition of Marquette and Joliet includes the realization of French dreams of an all-water route between the Great Lakes region and the Gulf of Mexico. French officials based on reports from Marquette, Joliet, and Arkansas’s Qua paw Indians, could begin to build forts to along the river, place a barrier between themselves and the English colonies, and expand the Catholic faith.  The exploration of Marquette and Jolliet influenced other Frenchmen to explore more and learn more about the countries.
